CLEGG PRESSING FIFA TO STRIP RUSSIA OF 2018 WORLD CUP

The deputy prime minister of the United Kingdom has added his voice to the growing number of some western politicians on the need for FIFA to strip Russia of the 2018 world cup host. This is due to the recent development of the shooting down of Malaysian jetliner MH17 in eastern Ukraine. The west especially the United States has blamed Russia for training and supplying weapons to separatist fighting the Ukrainian government. Eleven cities will host the prestigious sporting event in Russia as plans are far underway at the Samara for the 2018 world cup.

Football's world governing body FIFA this week ruled out calls from some German politicians for Russia to be boycotted, insisting that the tournament could be "a force of good". But the deputy prime minister of UK, Nick Clegg told the Sunday Times that allowing it to go ahead without a change of course by president Vladimir Putin would make the world look "so weak and so insincere" in its condemnation of Moscow's annexation of Crimea and support for the rebels. The EU has added another 15 individuals and 18 entities to the list of those subject to asset freezes and ambassadors in Brussels are expected to extend the punitive actions to state-owned banks' access to capital markets and to the arms and energy sectors.

"Vladimir Putin himself has to understand that he can't have his cake and eat it," he said. "He can't constantly, you know, push the patience of the international community beyond breaking point, destabilise a neighbouring country, protect these armed separatists in the east of Ukraine and still have the privilege and honour of receiving all the accolades in 2018 for being the host nation of the World Cup. "That's why I've come to the view that if he doesn't change course it's just not on, the idea that Russia will host the World Cup in 2018. "You can't have this – the beautiful game marred by the ugly aggression of Russia on the Russian-Ukrainian border. "Not only would Vladimir Putin exploit it, I think it would make the rest of the world look so weak and so insincere about our protestations about Vladimir Putin's behaviour if we're not prepared to pull the plug.  "Vladimir Putin is a past master at attending these sporting events and, sort of, pretending almost as if everything's utterly normal and nothing untoward is happening around him. "And if anyone needed any reminding of how dangerous this conflict is in the heart of Europe, just ask any of the family and relatives of those loved ones they lost in that plane incident last week."
Clegg said the threat of withdrawing the World Cup would be "a very potent political and symbolic sanction".

"If there's one thing that Vladimir Putin cares about, as far as I can see, it's his sense of status. "Maybe reminding him that you can't retain the same status in the world if you ignore the rest of the world, maybe that will have some effect on his thinking."

The US has expressed disappointment in the inability of the EU to impose serious sanctions that could cripple Russia economy. A move the US expects to force Russia hands off Ukraine. Most sectors have question the morality of the United States in criticizing Russia on MH17 tragedy that killed 298 civilians. The reason being, a US navy warship in 1988 shot down an Iranian Jetliner killing all 290 civilians on board and later went on to host the world cup in 1994 (USA 94). The United States government refused to apologize for that tragedy. Critiques have long said the United States does not have the moral rights to press sanctions in this case.

Meanwhile plans are far underway in Russia to welcome the world in 2018 for the beautiful game. Below are the cities in Russia hosting the 32 nations that will qualify for the prestigious event.

JAMES RODRIGUEZ CARRIED A LARGE INSECT ON ARM AFTER GOAL AGAINST BRAZIL

You might have missed it, but today's quarterfinals match between Colombia and host nation Brazil was one of a kind. Great ball play and massive exhibition of talents and skills by both teams. One thing that stood out was the huge insect that landed on the left arm of the top scorer of the ongoing 2014 world cup, James Rodrguez (Colombian forward), after finding the net in a penalty kick. A 2-1 lost to Brazil saw Rodriguez dream of lifting the trophy blowing in thin air.

SUAREZ BOGUS APOLOGY FOR WORLD CUP BITE.....still not enough..FAKE

 After several days of denial and threats of dragging FIFA to court, the disgraced Uruguayan forward has finally issued an apology to Giorgio Chiellini and the rest of the soccer community. In my opinion, I think this is a bogus and a face saving apology. I now believe the rumor of Barcelona and Liverpool pressure on Suarez to issue an apology contrary to Suarez's initial claim of innocence. Suarez doesn't mean it and just did it to please Barcelona as he is major target for the clubs summer transfer. Barcelona's sporting director, Andoni Zubizarreta labelled Suarez as humble moments after Suarez apology. Andoni's statement is attached below;
'Suárez has shown he is humble enough to admit an error, which is very important,He has been humble enough to apologise to those he has affected, because it happened in the middle of a festival of football. In this case it’s the best thing a person can do.”
 Barcelona is expected to spend close to £80million on the Uruguayans forward this summer and might even add a player. Uruguyan president Jose Mujica even labelled FIFA bosses as 'sons of bitches' and 'fascists' after Suarez's ban. In my opinion Suarez deserves more than the punishment meted out to him. His full apology is attached below;

How fake! After three disgraceful biting incidence on the pitch? He's going to repeat this shameful act in the La Liga should Barcelona-Liverpool's deal materialize. He's just can't stop biting.
Meanwhile FIFA's boss Sepp Blatter has commended Suarez during a journalist interaction with the world governing body in Rio De Jenairo. He said 'I'm sorry' to the soccer family, and that's fair play too," Blatter told reporters at an event in Rio de Janeiro."That shows he's a great player and I hope he can have his soccer career back."
Surprising to hear those words from Blatter about Suarez. Need not say more

US GOALIE,TIM HOWARD SET WORLD CUP RECORD

This is one of my best games in the tournament so far. Certain names have stood up in this 2014 Brazil World Cup and Tim Howard of the US national team certainly is one of those. It was saves after saves and after saves counting a record of 15. This should have immediately prompted Klinsman of the weak defense and midfielders. The Everton goalkeeper has beaten Peru's Ramon Quiroga who held the previous best in 13 saves against Holland in 1978.

I include a stat comparing the two keepers at the end of the game. It does not mean that Courtois did less better, as a matter of fact Courtois is among the best 10 goalkeepers in the world.

An impressive game that brought out the best. Don't know how the US is going to maintain the soccer fever but we hope to get a more better squad in Moscow 2018. Promote and feed the MLS to be one of the best and hopefully 2018 will be great year of soccer. Tim Howard might be out then as he would have been 39.

EA-SPORTS REMOVES KP BOATENG, MUNTARI AND SUAREZ FROM FIF14 WORLD CUP GAME

These bans and suspensions are serious. EA-SPORTS in its latest upgrades to the Brazil 2014 world cup game has removed Kelvin Prince Boateng and Muntari from the Ghanaian national team following their suspension by the Ghana Football Association. These updates were made in all games including playstations and the xbox. KP Boateng has been replaced with Wasri and Muntari has been replaced with Rabiu. It does make playing the Ghana team on FIFA14 a bit awkward if you are used to the old squads. You can still play them on the club level tho.

Luis Suarez was definitely part of the removal from the Uruguay team. EA-SPORTS has confirmed its going to keep Suarez character out till the ban is lifted or the player completes the necessary punishment following his bite on Chiellini. Meanwhile Addidas has removed adds involving Suarez at the world cup and replaced it with Dani Alves of Brazil. Suarez is making effort to appeal the ruling from FIFA.

D-WADE & HASLEM OPT-OUT TO JOIN LEBRON J, CHRIS BOSH SET TO BE FREE AGENT SOON

Miami's big three above, Chris Bosh, Lebron James and Dwayne Wade will soon relieves Heat a total of more than $66 million if Bosh also decides to opt out of contract. This will give Miami tons of flexibility to lure their stars back into new deals and make additional roster upgrades.
Wade will become a free agent on Tuesday following James decision to opt out earlier this week. This means getting out of the two years left on his contract and a total of $42 million. Udonis Haslem decided to join the duo on Saturday by leaving his $4.6 million dollar check for next season in Miami. Heat will not be the same with these big names opting out of contracts if not lured back.
It may be considered as a welcome decision for the Heat, because it leaves them more cash for upgrades which are very necessary for next season. It's just been rumored that agent Henry Thomas just said Chris Bosh has opted out, if this is true, then Miami Heat is expecting a record huge salary cap remaing from these four players opting out and becoming free agents.
All indicates that these players might return to Miami. Does it then makes sense to opt out at all? Is it the freedom or patriotism?

Miami HEAT President Pat Riley's statement on Dwyane Wade & Udonis Haslem

Today we were notified of Dwyane’s intention to opt-out of his contract and Udonis’ intention to not opt into his contract, making both players free agents. Dwyane has been the cornerstone of our organization for over a decade, and we hope he remains a part of the HEAT family for life. Udonis has been the heartbeat of this team for 11 years. He has sacrificed countless times to make this organization successful, and he is the epitome of what this organization stands for. We look forward to meeting with Dwyane and Udonis and their agent in the coming days to discuss our future together.”
Guess Pat Riley is also happy to have some money to play around with. I wouldn't opt out if I were one of those players with the intention of coming back. But sometimes it's not about the money. If these players come back to the Heat and decides on less money then  an unbeatable team has been created looking at the kind of gains Miami made in the 2014 drafts.

SUAREZ: I DIDN'T BITE CHIELLINI, I JUST LOST BALANCE..OFFICIAL STATEMENT TO FIFA

The saying that if you got nothing sensible to say in your defense keep mute might have escape Suarez and Uruguayan FA. Suarez's official statement to FIFA in attempt to appeal his punishment might be a disaster. Suarez, the Uruguayan FA and even the country's president Jose Mujica, claimed the players innocence. Jose Mujica even went ahead to say that he did not see any bite. Just wondering the kind of tv he watched the game on.
Looking at Suarez statement below, an appeal is unlikely. He feels no remorse and no apology was included. Guess the Uruguayans were watching a different game from the rest of the world. Why? Because they gave him a heroes welcome at the airport. Pictures coming soon. Check out Suarez's statement to FIFA below:

I DIDN'T INSULT COACH: KP BOATENG, AS HE AND MUNTARI ARE SUSPENDED BY GFA

Two of Ghana's star players have been suspended from the team just hours before their crucial World Cup match against Portugal. AC Milan's Sulley Muntari and Schalke's Kevin-Prince Boateng have both had their World Cup accreditation withdrawn, the Ghana FA (GFA) announced.
The two former Portsmouth players will play no part in Ghana's must-win last group match against Portugal in Brasilia on Thursday. Boateng "verbally abused" coach Kwesi Appiah, said the GFA.
A statement from the association said: "The GFA has suspended Sulley Ali Muntari indefinitely from the Black Stars with immediate effect. The decision was taken in the wake of his unprovoked physical attack on an executive committee member of the GFA and a management member of the Black Stars, Mr Moses Armah on Tuesday 24th June, 2014 during a meeting.
"The GFA has approved coach Kwesi Appiah's decision to suspend Kevin-Prince Boateng indefinitely from the Black Stars. The decision was taken following Boateng's vulgar verbal insults targeted at coach Kwesi Appiah during the team's training session in Maceio this week. Boateng has since showed no remorse for his actions which has resulted in the decision."

The statement said both Muntari and Boateng's accreditation for the World Cup has been withdrawn "with immediate effect".

KP Boateng gave an account of what happened:
“Yesterday, there was an incident during training where Sulley Muntari were just joking around.“I said that he had played the ball with his hand.“He said no. Then I laughed and said: ‘Hey, are you the referee or what?“The coach asked us why we had laughed wondered. We said that everything was okay. Then he sent us to the cabin.“After training I went to the coach and asked him if he had a minute for me.“I asked him what he had against me? Then he started yelling at me. He insulted me.“When I learnt of my suspension today, I accepted it, only no one should believe that I had insulted the coach or something.“I now travel from Brazil and I wish my colleagues all the best for the World Cup and the match against Portugal. ”
Well folks, there are two sides to a story but all seems dim for Ghana...Wish them the best.

SUAREZ STRIKES AGAIN, SINKS TEETH INTO CHIELLINI'S SHOULDER AT WORLD CUP..bite bite bite

He just can't stop biting. After earning a seven-month ban in 2010 for biting an opposing player in Eredevisie and also being slapped with a 10-month ban in 2013 for biting Chelsea Branislav Ivanovic, Suarez added another crap to his resume by sinking his cannines into Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini. MARADONA GAVE MIDDLE FINGER LIVE ON TV; F*** YOU JULIO GRONDONA (VIDEO)

Diego Maradona is in the news after sticking his middle finger to the president of the Argentine Football Association, Julio Grondona live on Venezuela Television. Diego gave that reaction following a comment by Grondona that Maradona is a bad luck to the Argentine National team.

KLINSMAN: I WON'T DISCUSS DRAW WITH GERMAN COACH

The much talked about draw with the German National Team has been quashed off by Jurgen Klinsman in a press conference at Sao Paolo. While a draw with Germany will see the two teams through both Sunil Gulati, president of the US Soccer Federation and Klinsman has scratch that off the table.

"There is no time for friendship calls," Klinsman said. When asked what will happened with Loew 54, telephoned him? "It's all business at the world cup, the US is known to give everything we have in every single game. Otherwise Mexico won't be here". Klinsman, 49, was referring to the world cup qualifying match between the US and Panama, in which the US had already clenched to a spot in Brazil and had nothing playing for. They were heading into stoppage time trailing 2-1. United States won that game 3-2 which enable Mexico to qualify for the world cup. A loss with Panama will still ensure a spot for the US team but Mexico wouldn't be in Brazil. I think Klinsman was trying to remind the Mexican fans of US contribution to securing them a spot in Brazil but also telling the public that US always play to win.

Sunil Gulati has said, it was inconceivable that the US squad will seek draw with the Germans. When asked to compare the fixed match in 1982 between Germany and Austria to eliminate Algeria? Gulati told reporters in Manaus that the US team competed until the last minute of the World Cup qualifier, even when it had already reached the tournament in Brazil. "That may be the mentality of 1982 but not now".

The US has 3 wins and 6 losses against Germany and will go into Thursdays game to win it.

JOZY ALTIDORE TO MISS GERMANY-US MATCH ON THURSDAY

This is the time that the US team need him most. The first United States football player to score five goals in five matches will miss the crucial US world cup match against Germany due to a strained left hamstring he sustained during a 2-1 win against Ghana in the opener.

Coach Jurgen Klinsman on Tuesday said that "we'll have a good chance to have him back again if we qualify for the knockout stage". Knockout Stage!!! An indication that Altidore will miss the round 16th stage should the US qualify. The United States is in a good position to advance to the next stage with a win, a draw or even a loss depending on the results between the Ghana-Portugal match.

The world cup fever in the US is higher than expected, with Bloomberg giving a 77% chance of the US team advancing to the knockout stage. Thursdays match is expected to generate the highest viewership rate ever than any sports in the US (source espn). The USA with 4 points and +1 goal advantage will go all in and all out against Germany.

MOURINHO, MARADONA BLAST FIFA FOR BIASED DRUG TESTING AT 2014 WORLD CUP

A total of seven Costa Rican players were tested for doping following the teams 1-0 win over Italy. This move has not gone down well with folks of the football community including the coach of the Costa Rican team.  FIFA normally pick two players at random for post match testing, it was therefore a little bit weird for addition 5 players to be called in for anti-dope testing.

Costa Rica coach Jorge Luis Pinto criticized FIFA of favoritism towards Brazil. "It wasn't done tactfully," Pinto said. "They should be more consistent. I would like to see them ask Brazil for eight players for an anti-doping control". Pinto said Costa Rica isn't opposed to FIFA conducting anti-doping controls, but there should be equilibrium. He said his players are crystalline and pure.

Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho said on yahoo sports that FIFA showed lack of respect for Costa Rica. "The Special One" believes FIFA owes Costa Rica an apology over the actions the football governing took after Coster Rica defeated Italy. He said FIFA was insenitive by picking 7 players from the Costa Rican team after the final whistle. "It doesn't make sense to me" he concluded.

Angentine legend, Diego Maradona was next to hit out at FIFA. The 53 year old legend said: "If there were seven Costa Ricans, why weren't seven Italians?". Maradona pointed out that, this is new, but it's happening because it hurts a lot of people to see Costa Rica get through and that so-called world campions don't, because then the sponsors don't pay the cash they promised. "It happened to me, I suffered it, so I'm able to speak about the subject. But seven players, never". He made his comments at the Agentine TV show De Zurda. Maradona who was sent home from the 1994 competition after testing positive for ephedrine agrees on anti-dope testing but stress that it has to be fair. He also tested positive for cocaine in 1991 and was suspended from football for 15 months.

Newspaper El Dia gave out the following names as being the seven players selected by FIFA for testing: Bryan Ruiz, Michael Barrantes, Keylor Navas, Celso Borges, Christian Bolanos, Diego Calvo and Marco Urena.

Unfair and injustice, I must say

CONSPIRACY THEORY: GERMAN U.S.A DRAW ADVANCES BOTH TEAMS-group of death showdown

They called it the group of death and has proved to live up to it name so far with none of the teams having a clear way of advancing to the next stage right now. Germany and USA both have a clear way of advancing and it's gonna take a miracle for Ghana and Portugal to advance. Hey, but this is football and anything can happen.
The USA is so much into this game and they have proven it so far by the way they play and the local TV coverage and support. Where you surprise when VEEP Joe Biden visited the team on their opener with Ghana? This world cup has received coverage and attracted more US views than expected. Klinsman and Joachem are good friends and both coach the German team. Close to seven German players are playing for the US team. Almost all programs on TV mentioned the world cup and USA performance this morning. Chris Cuomo of CNN even called soccer 'football', a rare word that is exclusively used for the NFL. This is the 9th appearance of the US team to the world cup and one of the best teams so far. Forget the NBA, NFL, MLB, or NHL, soccer has come to stay. A new sport revolution in America has come to stay, they calling it raise your flag. My guess is a great investment will be made into the MLS after the world cup.
Now the theory, we not looking at what happened to Tunisia in the 1982 Spain world cup to repeat itself. West Germany played a cynical ploy in 1982, the worst match fixing ever in a world cup history. On TV today all the US talk about is a possible draw on Thursday and kept showing the last goal by Portugal against the US on Sunday.
A draw on Thursday in the match against Germany advances both the US and Germany into the next round of the competition. Both teams got 4 points.
For Portugal and Ghana, better luck in a narrow miracle. Well, this is football and anything can happen. Can't wait for Thursday. All the teams in this group deserve the positions they in right now, with Germany and US topping the group and possible favorites to qualify.
Lets tossed the coin on Thursday and watch a sizzling football.....conspiracy or no conspiracy....Will not be surprise if the US draw against Germany, won't be surprised at all. It's been leveled in the last two games...

SULLEY ALI MUNTARI GIVE TO THE POOR IN BRAZIL - GO GHANA (VIDEO)

Ghanaian and AC Milan central midfielder has become popular after he walked through the local community of Maceio  to give money to the poor. He was greeted and well received by the locals with cheers midst photographs.  The success of football spread to the members today.....Congrats Sulley.
According to 101 Great Goals Muntari was out and about in the city of Maceio where his team is based.
"The AC Milan player was reportedly granted special permission by head coach Kwesi Appiah to fulfill his desire of meeting under privileged people in Brazil.During his tour of MaceioMuntari signed autographs and took photos with the locals, and incredibly the African star put his hand in his pocket to hand out money to the people."
Eventually, the police asked him to stop. Per Globo.com (yahoo sports)
Evaldo one of the recepient said: "I’ve lived in this poor community behind the Rei Pele Stadium for forty years but have never seen anything like this before. Not once has a soccer player come here. Brazil never gave me anything but Ghana did. I will support them up to the end."My 80-year-old mother and I received R$350 [Brazilian reals],” said Inês Corrêa, who went to check out the commotion when police surrounded Muntari. “I believe that he had R$5,000 but unfortunately the police put an end to his good work. In this area we only see politicians at election time."

FRONT PAGE OF ENGLISH NEWSPAPERS AFTER LOSING TO URUGUAY...INTERESTING

English journalism is one of the most interesting around the world. Take a look at how they handled the defeat against Uruguay with focus on Luis Suarez. It remains me of how West African country, Ghana also did in 2010 South Africa world cup when Suarez knocked the ball of goal with his hand. Enjoy these from pages from England......

Now see how the Uruguay reported it, We were able to get two of their papers...Compare!!

SHAME! SHAME!! SHAME!!! RACISTS PUNKS GOT THROUGH SECURITY AT FORTALEZA (GHANA VS GERMANY)-SATURDAY

It sure seems like FIFA and stadium security personnels could do a better job of finding these people and escorting them out of the stadium. These German folks were seen with their face painted blacks, wearing plane t-shirt with "Ghana" handwritten on their shirts. At first we thought it's for humor but looking at it critically, with only the face painted black the rest of the body left untouched. Not a real Ghana jersey was worn and the folks got sunglasses on (that's nothing btw). This act has gone beyond ridiculing and boiled up racism. Folks like this shouldn't be allowed in the stadium at the first place. Quite remember Nigerians fans were prevented from bringing in their instrument because FIFA found them inappropriate.
After all, a campaign to eliminate racism isn't much of a campaign if you don't make a move to stop it.
Actions speak louder than words........

The video below is the reason why FOOTBALL remains the greatest sport on earth. Bringing smiles to a young fan.....No wonder he is one of the best players at the moment (NEYMAR). This is what the game stands for and not what the folks above preaches.....
