Dan Snyder, the owner of the Redskins has refused to change the team's name citing tradition and value as the main reason. There have been growing pressure including sentiments from lawmakers , the president and civil rights groups in recent times to force Dan Snyder to change the name and logo.
Wednesday's ruling will have no effect at all on the teams ownership of and the right to use the Redskins name and logo. The team can continue to use the name but it would lose a significant portion of its ability to protect the financial interest connected to its use. To put it in a better word, Dan Snyder does not own a full and sole rights on it. Hence the name can be used, printed and redistributed in any way or form to cash out money by other groups or individual without permission.
There is a growing perception that this ruling will be appealed by Snyder, but is he ready for the cost and battle? What this means is there is a head way and positive indication that the name will be change sooner or later, its just a matter of time.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said the team's name and logo has long stood as a deep offense to Native Americans. How will this affect the teams performance??
